[serious discussion] I work for a county run EMS agency, when we’re overwhelmed we contract with a private company that’s only profitable because of Medicare.
This is a much needed service for people, veterans, homeless junkies, or fathers/mothers who need care. I’ve been a libertarian since I could register to vote, but what viable answer do we have too care for those who can’t afford it? Or one lovely person I had a while back who just wanted to drink himself to death but couldn’t get social security unless he meet with a psychiatrist on tax payers dime to fund his lifestyle. So sure enough he dials a ride with us
