Thoughts on the antisemitism awareness act
Basically it just recognizes the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of antisemitism and allows for students to file civil rights suits against colleges. Personally, while I believe antisemitism is a horrible thing, hate speech laws are a violation of the 1st amendment and are bound to be used for political purposes. Banning speech is the first step towards tyranny. The fact is, the bill will likely become law seeing as the senate is likely to pass it and Joe Biden has been itching for an opportunity to pass a law like this it’s going to be law. Speech is speech, whether you like it or not it cannot ever be violent by any means of the word.
