Building codes/safety standards
Do libertarians really have an issue with things such as building codes have a professional standard or businesses following common sense safety rules? I was talking to a guy at my work that has been a die hard libertarian about businesses and he brought up “If I wanna have my cleaning chemicals stored right next to my food prep areas, I should be able to, the government shouldn’t be allowed to say I can’t. They should have no influence on how I run my business. If people don’t like it they can go somewhere rise, that’s how the free market works.”
I mean, really? Are some people that anti-regulation that they would rather, what I HOPE is common sense (not to have bleach and grease strip cleaner next to where you prep food), put people, people they want to buy their goods, at risk just to say “ I can do what I want”, and at the same time, pushing away potential customers from your own business? Do they not care about good work ethic?
