What are your thoughts on pollution?
Curious what other libertarians think of pollution. This is one issue where I think I may differ from the majority, but I believe pollution is one thing government should actually have the power to deal with.
And I don’t just mean environmental pollution or carbon emissions, but things like noise pollution. For example, someone shouldn’t be able to pull up on the public street in front of another’s house, and blast sirens for 10 hours straight throughout the night. Despite the noise coming from public property, if it enters into private property that is against the NAP from what I can tell. Is this a rather agreeable position or an unpopular one among libertarians?
On a more controversial note, as far as carbon emissions goes, I think their should be a universal carbon tax in theory. However since I don’t think such a policy could be upheld (and I mean globally not just nationally), idk what to do about climate change. Again do libertarians support the concept of a carbon tax (in theory) regardless of whether or not it would be practical to implement such a thing.
