School security idea
It has become more and more common that we see mass murder occurring at our nation’s schools. These tragedy’s can be mitigated without the violation of our civil liberties.
Proposal: Create a MOS (military occupational speciality) within the National Guard in which a team of active Guardsmen are stationed at every school in the nation. These Guardsmen rotate between teaching civics to a certain grade level and being apart of their school’s quick response force. National Guardsmen are trained, have background checks for their security clearances, and already serve the state. They are the perfect candidates for such a task.
Q: Would this be a violation of our civil rights?
A: No, as these guardsmen will not be federalized and administration of the school will remain in the hands of civilians.
Q: How would states fund this?
A: States that authorize this program would receive subsidies from the federal military budget. I would argue that it should be a completely subsidized program. A lot of people complain about the federal military budget being too high, and those same people argue that those funds should be spent on education. This would channel a part of federal military budget directly into the school budget for education/security purposes.
Q: What if one of these guardsman goes crazy and decides to grab a weapon and shoot up the school?
A: weapons would be secured in an armory located at a strategically placed operations center. The armory will be guarded by a 24/7 staff duty, and all personnel not engaged in teaching will have their place of duty located at the operations center. This ensures that no lone psychopath can unilaterally arm themselves and endanger any lives
Let me hear your thoughts on this! I’m all for criticism and civil discourse.
