For a free society, we sure have a lot of permit processes and regulations for just about everything…
As a youngster back in the 90’s and 00’s, I remember the comeback of my age group was “it’s a free country, I can do whatever I want” when told not to do something. It’s truly amazing how adulting can show you just how ignorant of a statement that is, and the permits on pretty much everything shows that.
Wanna build a house or new out building on your property?? Sign these papers and pay a fee to secure a build permit.
Wanna become a hobby farmer and perhaps turn some grassland over to row crops on your own property? Report to the USDA’s NRCS to convince the government you’re adhering to sodbuster regulations.
Don’t need the help of the government to run that farm? Too bad, you gotta certify your acres with the USDA anyways.
Got a weed that just won’t die with regular chemicals? Too bad, you need a RUP permit.
Wanna butcher that pig your kids used for an FFA project? Too bad, you gotta get a permit to butcher the piggy for bacon.
Wanna protect yourself because you live in a bad neighborhood? Too bad, you gotta buy a permit to get back your right to carry a handgun.
Wanna start your own business? Sign up for the small business permit.
The list goes on and on.
