Why does the conservative subreddit pretend to be libertarian?
Their subreddit icon is the Gadsden flag. I just don’t understand modern conservatism and I’ve really tried from a liberal perspective, which should be polar opposite, but I don’t really see them as conservative in any form.
They are the literal inverse of Democrats with the variable of worshiping Trump. It’s an authoritarian party that’s views are dictated exclusively by the mood of an unhinged man.
The ‘party of freedom’ wants just as much control in your life as the democratic side if not more, with a rigid view of nearly everything, without much room for debate or areas of gray.
They spend just as much as Democrats, but cry foul if it’s not what they want to spend money on, and haven’t given a shit about the deficit since 2015.
Why do they pretend to be affiliated with libertarianism, and conservatism, when they clearly do not understand what it means?
Does anyone even know what to call this new iteration of the Republican Party in political terms?
