Banning qualified immunity – legal fees for cops
Just want to see if someone knows more about law enforcement to chime in.
As cities and states move to ban qualified immunity, one of the things that I think will happen is police unions adding a fee for legal insurance. I think this is pretty fair, and shouldn’t cost much if the union refuses to cover incidents that are impossible to argue for the cop.
Does anyone see any other way this would be handled? Specific details that would make this approach problematic?
