PSA private prisons aren’t driving incarceration
One of Reddit’s stupid narratives is that private prisons drives unjustified jailing and treatment.
It doesn’t. The problems you see in private prisons are apparent in public ones also. As such, the problems you try to blame on “the market” are the symptom of a larger problem – trying to jail far too many people.
Unlike public prisons, private ones can be incentivized to reduce recidivism, safety, quality, and justice.
Get out of Bernie Sanders’ idiotic notion that accountable private self-interest is somehow more nefarious than inefficient public systems.
