Just found out today that a bullshit government rule kept a good family friend from being there when his wife passed away from cancer.
My best friend, a man of good moral fiber. Someone who lived an honest life, took an honest job, made an honest living, raised his kids to know the difference between right and wrong and go on to get respected degrees from good schools, was kicked out of the hospital just hours before his wife died of cancer.
The hospital kicked him out because of some bullshit government rule that visitations can only last for 6 hours. Just hours later, after the hospital told him to leave, his wife died. Imagine that. Dying alone.
I know when I lost a loved one to cancer, I was at least glad I was right by their bedside when they died. There’s solace for all involved when you don’t die alone. Imagine not being there for your loving wife, who’se been by your side, a partner in life for years, when she passes because some bureaucrat kicked you out of the hospital. Despicable.
But it gets worse. Due to the lockdowns in New York and Michigan, and the obscene rules in his home state, he can’t even have the funeral. All his family are in New York and Michigan, so they can’t even come in, and the funeral place cannot have more than 10 people at a time, and they would have to rotate out.
Imagine not having a fucking funeral for your passing. Imagine wanting to honor your loved one but instead being told (metaphorically) “FUCK YOU! THE STATE SAYS IT’S WRONG!”
This is BULLSHIT. Lockdowns are BULLSHIT. And nobody should die of cancer alone or miss their wife’s death due to a seasonal virus.
