CA Proposition 33
I’ve been reading through the propositions for this years ballot and was wondering what everyone else’s thoughts were regarding CA Prop 33. The proposition repeals the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act of 1995 (rent control at state level) and gives those powers to the cities/counties. On the one hand it decentralizes a power at the state level, on the other hand it allows cities/counties to enact rent controls across more types of properties (so technically an expansion of power). Of course it being CA we’ll all still have to deal with AB 1482 (another form of rent control at the state level which will remain in effect until 2030), but I’ve been mulling it over for a few days and still haven’t come to a hard decision. Currently I’m leaning towards decentralization. Here is the link to the full proposition: Prop 33 submitted by /u/GodzillaDoesntExist [link] [comments]
