Workers rights in free market.
Recently I debated a socialist of neccesity of regulations to protect workers rights. Had such a lengthy debate with that guy, think i lost. Not sure where did I go wrong. It was about workers rights in a free market system with no regulations including no workers rights regulations. Guy mentioned Gilded age I said it did have its regulations, then we got to Carnegies Steel monopoly and there actually wasn’t any government intervention that made it a domestic monopoly.(And that monopoly led to workers’ inability to choose some other company to work at) Did free market system in this case naturally led to monopolization domestically? Also yeah that tarrif doesnt count her because we are talking about workers rights and only domestic companies impact that.(Removing tarrif, would only make steel cheaper but wont change anything regarding workers conditions) If anyone would like a full text of my debate with the guy, DM me. submitted by /u/Glad_Ask [link] [comments]
