What Are Your Views On Paleoconservatives?
Many right-wing libertarians such as: Ron Paul, Murray Rothbard, Hans Herman Hoppe, Lew Rockwell, and Tom Woods have long backed paleoconservatives, such as Pat Buchanan and Paul Gottried. Murray Rothbard even started a movement in the 1990s called “paleolibertarianism,” which combined the social views of paleoconservatism with free market, Austrian Economics. I know that rightwing-libertarianism and paleconservatism both came out of the anti New Deal, “old right,” of the 1910s-1950s Republican party, which explains why they have so many similiarities. Both are anti intervention, socially and fiscally conservative, believe in a small federal government, and are strict constitutionalists. The only main difference I can find is that paleoconservatives are typically laissez-faire and pro free market at home, but support protectionism for certain imported goods. While right-wing or paleolibertarians support a complete, unrestricted free market. Warren G. Harding and Calvin Coolidge (both old right Republicans) were both somewhat protectionist but old school libertarians seem to like them a lot. Personally I like paleoconservatives. They are 100X better than the George Bush style neoconservatives, who trample on civil liberties and start endless wars in far away lands, and waste trillions of the taxpayers money while doing it. submitted by /u/Dapper_Suit_5290 [link] [comments]
