Communist Cuba is a real life dystopian society
Huge, faded, propaganda murals promising justice and equality adorn the crumbling streets of Havana, while its residents experience the most absolute misery and inequality imaginable. A retiree earns 4 dollars a month, and the food scarcity has gotten so bad that a carton of eggs is currently over 15 dollars. It’s basically a luxury. Most regime officials are morbidly obese and enjoy lavish banquets while giving speeches about “advancing the achievements of the revolution”. Entire families are living in literal crumbling and collapsing ruins as if everything is normal. There are also shiny, modern, air-conditioned grocery stores and restaurants nestled in the middle of ruined century-old buildings with hungry and destitute people sleeping outside in the brutal tropical heat and humidity. It’s a full-blown dystopian society. submitted by /u/Intricate1779 [link] [comments]
