The single most important issue Libertarians should be focused on is the replacement of “first past the post” voting.
Duverger’s law says that constituencies that use first-past-the-post methods will lead to two-party systems, given enough time. This is why it is nearly impossible for third parties to gain much traction. If I was leading the libertarian party I would literally be talking about this constantly. This should be our single most important issue. We need a different way to vote that allows for third party representation. Personally I think the Star system is a great option. It eliminates strategic voting and also does away with the idea of throwing away your vote. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STAR_voting?wprov=sfti1# Here are a few good videos that breaks a few of these ideas down: https://youtu.be/s7tWHJfhiyo?si=0389zRkYV6w5x7Vr https://youtu.be/3Y3jE3B8HsE?si=cgIYAdadH0kLzbbN https://youtu.be/l8XOZJkozfI?si=wVzIFsSVVjdXD0yx submitted by /u/ProtonSerapis [link] [comments]
