How do you feel about cash vs food stamp welfare?
I know the answer is going to be “I don’t want either” but just bare with me here.
Here in Canada we give cash to our welfare folks. I imagine you can all guess where most of that money ends up being spent and also understand that it means we still have lots of people relying on food banks and rent assistance.
In the US you do a food stamp program. Money that can only be used for food. In Canada they’d call that “dehumanizing” but I digress.
The existence of a strong black market for food stamps/EBT sort of proves to me what happens in reality.
So if you had to pick one which would you prefer?
