Do you guys avoid Disney and Blizzard and other companies that kiss China’s Ass?
After the Blitzchung situation and after watching Endgame, I’ve been trying my best to refrain from feeding money into these shitty corporations.
Disclaimer: Please don’t be under the thought that I’m posting this just for some praise and upvotes. I’m just posting this to get some extra thoughts. I thought about posting this in r/FreeHongKongNow but I think I’d get more diverse answers here.
For those who don’t know, after watching Endgame I came across the interesting point that Doctor Strange’s teacher was originally a Tibetan monk, but they changed it to be the bald woman whom I forget the name of. I’m sorry it’s been a very long time. There’s also the lengths that Disney takes to appease China, just look at Mulan 2020 for that.
There was also the Blitzchung situation with Blizzard, which was essentially: someone who goes by the name of Blitzchung won an Overwatch tournament and used this chance to show support for the Hong Kong protests. This was done on live air during an interview. Blitzchung got his reward for winning the tournament revoked and even the two people who interviewed him got fired.
Ever since then I’ve stayed away from them, or tried my best to. I’ve gotten some shit at my work place for these decisions and someone even said that it’s useless for me to try to resist these massive corporations because, what’s one person across millions and millions of people?
But what do you think? Am I doing something that’s just downright unnecessary, or do you also do something similar? Thank you for reading this.
TL;DR: after certain scenarios I’ve refrained from Disney and Blizzard but do you think this is really necessary? I’d love to know your thoughts on this.
