Authortarian Rule In Mississippi
Hey yall, I am a current resident of Mississippi. I’ve lived here my entire life. I’m libertarian in my views and hated the disjustice that happened this past election. The people of Mississippi voted for the decriminalization of medical marijuana, and I thought the fight had been won. The support for the initiative had overwhelming voter support. I believe 74 percent of Mississippians voted for it, even though they used confusing language on the ballot to confuse voters, and I was ecstatic. I’ve been advocating for the decriminalization of marijuana for 2 the past 4 years, getting signatures for petitions and sending letters to our Governor. We were supposed to get medical marijuana dispensaries and cards this year, but that didn’t happen. The Mississippi Supreme Court, with its 7 members, overturned the vote of the people. I don’t even smoke marijuana, however if they can overturn the rule of the people this time, it means they can do it again. How do I combat this? How do I even attempt to right this wrong? I feel as if all my hard work amounted to nothing and am being ruled instead of heard. It just baffles me that this could happen. I want to fight back against this.
