The NHS is on the the biggest employers in the world.
The NHS is in the top 5 and is number one in hiring professionals. That is 1.7 million people…
Now looking at the fact that there is supposedly not enough nurses and doctors i find this statistic disgusting. It is very difficult to get an appointment with your local gp. You have to call first thing in the morning, wait in a queue and pray that by the time they get round to awnsering your call (30 mins avg) they have any space for you(usually they do not). You have to repeat this for about 3 days until they manage to squeeze you in. Even when you have appointments it is not alway guaranteed you will be seen. My partner Traveld 1 1/2 hours to london to have have a mole removed for them to then say that they cannot do it today because they are understaffed.
The NHS is a typical government institution that over employs bureaucrats and middle management to the point of severe inefficiency and incompetence. We are now spending £212 billion every year to support this. There is no incentive to improve efficency because criticising the NHS is political suicide. Any effort the government take to improve efficency just reduce services that actually do help people because you know who is in charge to deciding what to cut… the bureaucrats and middle management and they aren’t going to cut themselves are they.
