The Sound of Inevitability
I recall reading about the lead up to the Great War, and the feeling of inevitability. Europe, having had decades of peace since the Franco-Prussian War, offered a sense of foreboding. War was coming, and there was really nothing that could be done about it. All it took was a single bullet, the event that opened the floodgates. But bullet or not, war was coming.
That’s how things feel today. Not, hopefully, with such a cataclysmic result as in the Great War – approx
