My transition from LibLeft to LibRight
Been on /r/pcm for a while and I was about to share this, but I put in too much effort and emotion to just share this as a reply so I wanted to share with you all.
Had some idiot say after I described how I went from LibLeft to LibRight that I immediately and magically dropped all my views. This is being seen by people on the left but not understood, so let me describe how I actually moved so maybe anyone wondering will understand what causes this in reality rather than the right-wing magic faerie dust.
To tell the truth, it was a lot of things and a slow process. Here’s what got me:
Seeing the left ignore the systemic racism in their ranks (Twitter is a cesspool of racism) as they decried the right for the same. I thought it was hypocritical that the left denounced systemic racism while supporting twitter posts that talk about how white people are evil with no culture that should be gunned down in the streets to the tune of overwhelming support from replies, and the “report for racism” tool is purely aesthetic on twitter.
Realizing by my own research on government data that I actually do support the second amendment despite being raised pro-gun control and still having never held a gun in my life. I still have an open opinion but nobody that has read my document so far and been able to rebut it yet, despite me reaching out to dozens to do so. If you wish to point out the error of my ways I welcome you to do so. I’ll DM the doc if you DM me.
But the biggest reason by far. When I told my friends on Facebook that in the case of Kavanaugh I supported DUE PROCESS, I was DMed by multiple people saying that I’m a rapist apologizer, that I need to stand with the left if I care at all about minorities, etc. It felt like I was trying to leave a god damn cult and was being dragged back in. Then later, when I said due process for Biden, everyone on the left acted like hypocrites in supporting the message for due process beside me despite railing against it for Kavanaugh for months.
So I Left the Left. I still will likely vote against Trump, since he’s only out-authoritarianed by Kamala Harris who is only the VP, but I am now LibRight and proud. As you can see, it wasn’t the right that drew me in with a political analyst, cult leader, or spell. It was all the evil I saw on the left when I opened my eyes to seeing it.
