If you think I’m going to turn belly up to support a candidate I don’t believe in just so you don’t consider it “A Waste of a Vote,” you are not a liberal. You are not a believer in liberty. You are actually just an autocrat in a sheep’s wool.
I know that everyone here who has vocalized that they may not vote for a major party is probably undergoing the same stupid conversations that I find myself in daily. So, apologies in advance, I need to vent about some points, and if it sparks a discussion I’m happy to talk about it.
It becomes clearer to me daily, that the true plague of modern politics (especially in the U.S) is the notion that only these two parties can solve our problems. With election day fast approaching, I am constantly set upon by ads whenever I open apps, pollers, and pavement-pounders. I love your enthusiasm, truly I do. However, your idea that the only solution is to stop the other team from playing leaves us at just as much of an impasse as the gentlewoman who called me 5 minutes before you knocked. Do I find myself in agreement with some of your policies, sure. Do I find myself in agreement of some of your opponents policies, well, yes to that too.
Can you count on my vote? No, no you can’t.
I refuse to blindly ignore all the evidence that points to your parties platform clearly not doing what you promised to do. I have no faith in (Democrat) or your still incredibly Corporatist Senators, Chuck Schumer has all the backbone of an Inflatable Tube Man. Pelosi will take every opportunity to drive partisan power and standing rather than assist her constituents. McConnell puts himself over everyone else, the true envoy of “Fuck you, I got mine.” All of your figureheads, are cowards and powermongers who so crave their positions and influence that they have forgotten what it means to serve. Power and Strength does not make one capable of Rule, it makes one capable of Service.
To assert to me that me not voting for you and yours is assistance to them and theirs is not only incredibly arrogant, but profoundly incorrect in its inception. My vote has never swayed either side. I have never voted for either side and therefore have never assisted your opponents. My question to you is this, has your vote ever truly served your own interests? Has your vote ever bettered your life like you think it would, especially when you’re victorious? I can hear the answer. Hell, we all can. Why do you think it more reasonable to try and sway others than demand that the people who you elect to represent you do their jobs? You’re fooling yourselves, and until you wake up you unfortunately keep the rest of us in limbo as well, held hostage by this back and forth bullshit.
Don’t spew your two system garbage at me, you are the one that is part of the problem. Not me. If you don’t want people disenfranchised help ensure a system where everyone’s voice and opinion matters, ranked choice voting solves this lack of disenfranchisement from edge voters and stands to contribute more to the political scene than it could possible hinder. Your blatant disregard of that notion makes you just as bad as the people you claim gerrymander and rig elections. Make motions to generalize the electoral college so it shows an accurate percentile reflection of regional voters, rather than this winner take all garbage. Show me that you aren’t just as willfully engaging in voter suppression by ostracizing the people who may voice opinions different than your own.
Add ranked choice voting to your platform as a high priority and see how fast I’ll vote for you. Include a restructuring of the electoral college, and see how quick I sign my ballot. I’ll trust you once, after that it’s all on you, but you can’t bully me into supporting you and neither can your opposition. Don’t fucking tread on me.
Tl;dr Fuck Mitch McConnell, Fuck Corporatists, Fuck the Koch brothers, Fuck the Partisans. And Fuck you Lindsay Graham for good measure.
