What do libertarians think about social help for disapled people, pensioners, children, families with one parent?
As for me, I agree with the main libertarian statement that we need to reduce government’s functions and taxes as much as we can. But there are also people who can’t live without help. They just can’t work.
Yeah, there are civil societies in some countries which could make individual initiative but how can we be sure they’ll help 100% of such people? State has resources, can keep records of pensioners. Yeah, I’m not about to just believe in state but it objectively can do it better, especially if it will be helped by volunteers. And I don’t even talk about other countries which society is not civil.
I want to reduce state’s power but I think this is necessary function which has to be paid by taxes.
