The Orwellian hypocrisy around the Supreme Court nomination shows that both parties only have one principle: to win.
I won’t dog pile onto the many Mitch McConnell quotes of him being a hypocrite these days. You’ve surely seen them. But will share as a reminder a few from then-candidate Hillary Clinton and Minority Leader Schumer after Scalia died during an election (2016): “Elections have consequences…. The president has a responsibility to nominate a new justice and the Senate has has a responsibility to vote.” And “The President can and should send the Senate a nominee right away… It would be unprecedented in recent history for the Supreme Court to go a year with a vacant seat. Failing to fill this vacancy would be a shameful abdication of one of the Senate’s most essential Constitutional responsibilities.”
