Jo Jorgensen is the only candidate worth voting for- change my mind
I know of course that this is a popular opinion within this sub. Despite that, I’ve commonly seen arguments in this sub from people saying that “we need to vote Biden!” or “we need to vote Trump!” (just this once of course, like Republicans and Democrats say to third party voters every single general election).
I wholeheartedly disagree.
I know that there are people browsing this sub who plan to vote Biden, and others who plan to vote Trump. I respect your right to believe what you want and vote for who you want. However, I’ve not seen any good arguments that explain why I should change my view and support one of these candidates. In fact, most of the argument I see is the whole “we need to defeat Trump”/”we need to defeat Biden” rhetoric. In my respectful opinion they’re both dogshit candidates on a personal and political level, who threaten individual liberties and have no real plans for meaningful change.
Now, building on that point, I would go as far to claim that Jo is the only candidate worth voting for.
If you care about the economy- Jo’s commitment to free trade and un-restricting the free market is a vastly better economic plan that either party.
If you care about social programs- Jo is the only candidate with a logical solution to what we can do about social security to ensure people are still taken care of, and the only candidate committed to fixing the healthcare system in a way that works for everyone.
If you care about foreign policy/having a strong military- Jo is the best of both worlds, proposing turning “America into one giant Switzerland, armed and neutral”. She is the ONLY candidate proposing peace, while simultaneously recognizing the importance of protecting America.
If you care about taxation/government spending- Jo is the only candidate who cares about this at all. The Democratic party is clearly not concerned with this, and the Republican party only pretends to care, no real action has been taken on this issue by either party in a very long time.
If you care about criminal justice- Jo is the candidate with a real solution to how we can reform our criminal justice system and improve the standard of living for everyone. The only one taking steps towards a healthier, safer, more free, America.
If you care about the environment- Jo is committed to ending government subsidies for fossil fuels and taking down barriers that prevent us from moving towards cleaner, safer energy, like nuclear. Instead of spending 100 trillion dollars or just ignoring the issue, Jo is proposing ways to improve our environment and health while simultaneously saving money.
These are just some of the politically topical issues at the moment. These are bipartisan issues (I dislike the word, but I’m trying to emphasize that these are big ticket items for both Republicans and Democrats).
Ignoring the other glaring issues with both major candidates, based on policy alone, it is clear to me that Jo Jorgensen is the only candidate worth voting for in 2020.
If you’re Libertarian and disagree, I hope you seriously reconsider voting Jo 2020. I am not throwing my vote away. I’m voting for a free, safe, and prosperous America. If we never fight with our votes, we’ll never be able to make serious change in America with our current political system.
If you’re a Republican or Democrat who is stopping by the sub- I hope some of these points spoke to you. A good place to visit to find out more about Jo and the parties general platform is https://jo20.com/issues/. The talking points I listed here can all be found directly on her website and I invite you to look into it, if nothing else, than to be educated on alternatives to the two party system.
