Sincerely asking for help here, take it as an ELI5 if you want… Why is it important for me to vote libertarian if the odds of winning are slim to none?
I’m in my early 30’s and have never cared enough to vote once in my entire life. This current administration has been the straw that broke my back. I side most with the libertarian party and want to vote for Jo but I know there is no hope of winning, seeing how a 3rd party hasn’t won since the 1850’s. But still I feel compelled to do it.
It’s almost a selfish feeling and I feel kinda crappy about it. For example, I feel like if the country continues to crumble I can just sit back and say “Welp… Don’t blame me, I voted libertarian.” And that comes off in my head as smug and almost elitist like that one guy who dumps all over your music because he knows what’s best. I don’t like it.
So please help me better understand why my vote for the libertarian party is important, other than a vote against the others.
