When I was a teenager I had zero issue with welfare. Let’s give money to the homeless. To the poor. To the sick or disabled. To those in need. Then I found out that for every dollar they collect and spend on welfare, only a penny reaches the person receiving it (no idea how accurate that stat actually is. Been a long time since I read that). What a wake up call.
Yes, wealth redistribution is wrong. Yes it drags everyone down. But at least it would go from someone who doesn’t need it as much to someone who needs it more. But now we are so corrupt that everything is going from the middle class to the bureaucrats. What a disaster. They will never fix the problem when their job and paycheck depends on the problem continuing.
By the way, same thing applies to charities. You want to donate to those that pass 90% to the people. There are some that spend it all on their “employees”, buildings, consultants and fundraising, and only give 5% to the actual cause. Leeches.
