RFK Jr’s “Reparations”: Thoughts?
RFK Jr recently introduced programs to help bridge the divide that institutional (and individual) racism created in our country. His full stance is here, but here’s a quick rundown of components to that platform issue:
-
Targeted community repair (eg. Infrastructure)
-
Prison reform (more rehabilitation, less punishment; early release for non-violent offender)
-
Police reform
-
Working poor financial support ($15 min wage, tax credits, childcare subsidies, 3% interest rate home buying programs)
-
School revitalization
-
Addiction/Recovery programs
-
Youth programs
-
Free ID cards (enabling access to services like bank accounts)
Would love an honest, objective conversation about this initiative. No ad hominem fallacies, please. Let’s keep this issue oriented.
