Putin did not cause record gas prices. Joe Biden and the Democrats (who are 100% in favor as opposed GOP dissenters) and EU’s decision to sanction Russian oil, which has had minimal impact on Russia and come at great cost to US citizens, did
All we’ve heard for months now is that Biden united the world on Russia, yet Reuters is claiming that India has increased their imports of Russian oil from 277k bpd a few months to over 819k bpd in May.
The NY Times is also quoting that Russia just set a likely record on oil revenue with 93 billion Euros sold in the first 100 days of the war.

Further, the NY Times reports that it appears these sanctions, having not accomplished much of anything, are just pushing Russia and China into an even closer relationship.

Beyond that, Bloomberg reporter Saleha Mohsin reports, “Some Biden officials privately express concern that rather than dissuade the Kremlin as intended, US sanctions have instead exacerbated inflation, worsened food insecurity and punished ordinary Russians more than Putin or his allies.”

Once again, sanctions on a pariah state appear to have had very little effect beyond letting the warmongers in the US and Europe claim they’ve won while hurting every day folks. Bravo to the all the folks that continually applaud and advocate for these things.
To the extent the Ukraine war is contributing to high gas prices, the proximate cause is not the war itself, but the policy choice taken by the US to impose unprecedented sanctions on Russia and ban oil imports. Only by fudging the causation can the blame be pinned on “Putin”.
The average American really is a gullible fool.
