Statistician Aaron Brown points out that social science literature on gun control is broadly useless
Statistician Aaron Brown points out that out of 27,900 research publications on gun laws, only 123 tested their effects rigorously.
Out of the 722 hypotheses of the 123 rigorous studies we would expect 5% (36) by random chance to show a positive correlation. Yet only 18 found a positive correlation indicating gun control works. This is lower than the expected noise giving an indication gun control has no noticable effect.
Further, only one hypothesis indicated gun control makes gun violence worse. This is significantly below the expected noise. It should be closer to 36. This indicates a suppression of results that indicate gun control doesn’t work.
