An alternative idea to ending the FED…
Here is an idea. Make it law that if the government want to print large sums of money a 2/3 majority vote is required to do so. The wording of it would be tricky. Something along the lines of “Congress shall not print more than X percentage of the currency already in circulation in one fiscal year without a 2/3 majority vote.” Obviously this is a simplified version of what the actual language would be. This would not completely remove their ability to print money, but would limit their ability to cause the massive inflation spikes we are seeing. If congress is going to print trillions of dollars you better have a damn good reason to do so.
I would guess that this would need to be a constitutional amendment. I know that is an insanely difficult thing to pass, but I’m guessing that it would be easier than getting enough votes to put an end to the FED all together. Although I do think ending or reforming the FED would be great CONGRESS is really the culprit to all of this. As long as they have the ability to pump out as much money as they want we are not going to get anywhere. Remove the FED and they will just find a different way to print the money needed for their nonsense.
Just an idea. Not sure if anyone else has thought of or written about this.
