Extrapolating the second amendment and war in the Ukraine
The US Federal government is supporting Ukraine as a client/mercenary state to defeat Russia in a war they economically have no choice but to engage in.
A big part of this, among many others, is Russian nukes. I don’t think it’s any secret the US would happily see Russia without nukes. Iran and North Korea of course being another prominent example of “no nuclear for you” policy.
That being said, let’s look at the second amendment that is still Constitutional law in the United States. This amendment guarantees the private citizen ‘right to bear arms’ and defend him/herself and their family/property. The right is overwhelmingly pro 2A, the left not so much.
On a macro-level, nuclear armaments follow the same logic. Do soverign nations not have the ‘right to bear nukes’? I believe this type of logical reasoning is one reason why we see the right showing less support for Ukraine and the left demonizing Russia so much in the current conflict.
