Libertarianism would have a real shot if it would drop all the taxation is theft crap.
The social side of libertarianism is incredible. We can all agree on that. Being tolerant. Letting people live their life how they want to so long as they are not harming others. Freedom.
Unfortunately it gets bogged down by the massive ball and chain that is the economic side of Libertarianism. Libertarian economics will NEVER be widely accepted. It clashes so hard against the social aspects as well. It flips from being wholesome and tolerant to the ultimate “got mine fuck you” set of ideals. Most people don’t want to live in a society like Dubai where you have absurd monuments to wealth contrasted against hordes of indentured servants.
if Libertarians could focus on the social side and collaborative economic ideals instead of pushing for obscene wealth inequality and borderline sociopathic economic views I think Libertarianism would become mainstream and then make profoundly positive impacts on the world.
