Discussion; Question: What‘s your take on planed obsolescence and right to repair?
I‘m not quite sure what the libertarian take on this is, since corporations have the liberty to make a faulty product, and refuse to give people the resources to fix their stuff. At the same time they take away peoples liberty to fix their own stuff. And while planned obsolescence may provide reoccurring revenue, it is still wasting production capacity and is pretty bad for the climate and welfare, among other things. Do you think that extending the minimal warranty to about 6 years would improve this situation? What other policies would improve this situation „passively“ without requiring a strong and actively intervening government?
