Do you libertarians believe in human induced climate change and vaccines (or even evolution)?
Hi, I am from India. I am ideologically unstable so I check all ideologies around the world. Libertarianism seems to be a fundamental principle of USA, so I check libertarian websites and libertarians on social media quite often. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems libertarians absolutely HATE govt funded research and absolutely distrusts them. From what I have seen from libertarians on Quora, Reddit, Twitter as well as other institutes like CATO, Hoovers, etc.:
Libertarians do not believe in human induced climate change. One of the most prominent libertarians, Thomas Sowell, has repeatedly said that these IPCC reports and the narrative of climate change has been built by governments and UN and that the consensus of climate scientists is a lie. From what I have seen, libertarians say UN wants to create a one world government and that is why they are pushing for the narrative of climate change. Some say that they want to justify more taxes as carbon tax and siphon money to themselves and that’s why they want to create the climate change narrative. Others say governments, by the narrative of human induced climate change, want to convince people to give all powers to the government which they will use to make themselves bigger and instill socialism.
Libertarians often do not believe in vaccines as they think they are ‘harmful chemicals’ made by govt funded scientists to kill, sterilize, harm and take away intelligence of the common people. Some say its a ploy to get more money and an exercise of control by the government. Libertarians put more trust in private funded research which say vaccines cause autism, etc.
Religious libertarians (Christians) believe govt funded research is the one that claims evolution and that private funded research have proven them wrong. I saw a video by Hoovers Institute, one of the libertarian ones where Thomas Sowell also work, which claim that mathematicians have proven that evolution is impossible. If I am not wrong, religious libertarians claim that it is a ploy by government, which they deem as evil, to convert more people to atheism and satanism.
Along with this, I have seen other conspiracies against the government like QAnon which claims government is filled with pedophile satanists who want to establish control over the world. Seems to come from the libertarian belief that governments are fundamentally evil. propagandists and tyrannical. Since this kind of belief is not really common in India, where people are mostly uneducated and put their faith in government (unless that government is a party that they don’t support), I have never seen any irl libertarians. Our forefathers, unlike American ones, did not instill so much revolutionary attitude against the government (our revolution was just against a foreign British government, that’s all. Not so much interest in individualism or libertarianism). So, want you guys’ opinions.
