America wouldn’t call any other country that handled elections the way we do a democracy.
I am not talking about voter fraud we as a country don’t face that issue we just don’t!
Gerrymandering: Politicians draw their own districts. It’s ridiculous that we can’t agree on an independent election commission that would be made up of equal members of the top 4 parties.
Voter suppression- You can debate all you want over what that really means, but lets just say this, any country that doesn’t try to make voting easy can’t be considered democratic.
Money in politics- The fact that we pour billions of dollars into elections an that the government puts donors interests before their constituents is antithetical to democracy.
Political courts- Fully democratic countries don’t have judges who’s outcomes are predictable based on which party appointed them.
A republic is a country without a monarchy.
A democracy is a country with a government elected by the people.
You can be a Democratic Republic like Germany, A democratic monarchy like Canada, A non democratic monarchy like Saudi Arabia and a non democratic republic like China.
