What would stop a group looking for power within an anarcho-capitalist society from attempting to take over
I was having my first in depth discussion about anarcho-capitalism with an actual an-cap and it didn’t change my views on it whatsoever, and if anything made me think it was even more ridiculous. To sum it up in a quick way, this person said there would be no violence, uprising of a group looking for power, or conflict because everyone would have guns and because firms wouldn’t profit from war, and this just makes no sense whatsoever to me.
I don’t see how someone can believe a group of people who want power in a society with no governing force won’t pursue it because the act of violence won’t be economically profitable to them, which you can then further argue will eventually be profitable once they take over whatever it is they want to. It wouldn’t even necessarily be firms declaring war and sending troops in to places, I’m thinking more along the lines of the mofo’s from Mad Max trying to seize power. Whether it be nation wide or in a small area, this would be completely inevitable. People hate following the rules of society as it is, just imagine one without any to begin with.
Of course there is more to the ideology than this, but this is my biggest critique of it.
