Why I am no longer in favor of the electoral college
I love the constitution but recently I’ve come to the conclusion that the electoral college does not give power to the people. Apart from the obvious of it not requiring the popular vote to win, there’s one major flaw that lost it for me. Let’s say there’s a tie for the electoral vote at 269 votes for both the Republican and Democratic parties, the election then goes to the House of Representatives to decide the election, which then gives the government the power to choose who will take office. I just don’t see how with these two rules in place how someone can say the electoral college represents a true democratic election. Anyone is welcome to comment of course, but I would prefer to hear from primarily those who hold libertarian values.
