Does anyone else find it deeply ironic that economic libertarianism helped build up a Chinese Communist state to power that is in almost every way the opposite of libertarianism?
Pretty much the title. By letting our companies divest themselves into over bloated corporations, with endless capital and no regulations to speak of in the states, they funded hundreds of start up manufacturing facilities, slowly started to divest capital away from manufacturing here over time and use cheaper practices in China all in the name of min – maxing short term capital gains.
Now we have a capitalist / communist-Leninist state that has committed more human rights abuses in the last 50 years then the vast majority of countries have committed in a 100. That has been beating us at our own game for the last 20 years.
This is basically the same script of Nazi Germany albeit with differing manufacturing power. The United States had many companies supplying the Nazi war Machine before 1941.
The economy operates independent of ethics, and often creates the problems we have to deal with because we are too foolish to think in context.
