The Indoctrination of the American Mind is Off The Chart?
I am a non-American how used to live in America and still has friends that live there. I had a conversation with a soon-to-be doctor friend who was angry about how “republicans” are handling the second wave.
My opinion: I would much rather live in a country where people can ask questions and object to certain things, than live in one where people are compelled by force to do things. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the “experts” to explain things at a level where everyone understands. If an expert cannot explain something to a large percentage of the population, the expert should figure out how to do so. Finally, alot of “conspiracy theories” have been proven right. It is important that people ask questions and investigate things independently.
Her: Not all opinions are valid, especially when people are dying. The “republicans” have brainwashed a large slot of people to think like this…..
Me: *changes topic* . I am going to write an essay about reforesting deserted areas of the earth (because I think that it is a cool idea. It was never meant to be a call to action)
Her: Nothing is ever going to change. Brings up republicans and democrats again. Brings up Jeff Bezos and not paying taxes (all taxation is theft, but whatever). Tax the rich more!!!
Why have such a large group of Americans been indoctrinated to only think in political terms? I have come to the conclusion that alot of people with strong political ideologies do not think and just recite the same dog whistle arguments.
The same person who complains about the anti-vaxxers and climate change does not want to stop contributing to it and does not like the idea of moving to a state that aligns with their political ideology.
I give up. Sometimes, people just want to complain.
