Flaws of libertarianism on the right
So I do admire right wing libertarians (not right wing authoritarianism masquerading as libertarian) however I do think there are some major flaws:
Although the government over reach is a major threat and can cause major suffering and problems, many on the right of this spectrum will ignore massive corporations abuse of power towards labor whether it’s using government as an aid or not. Too many right libertarians will say well the government can cause more damage than a corporation could and then move on and ignore the abuse and violations corporations can cause.
Too many on the right think that an employee or potential employee can demand their employer give certain pay and hours and ignore the power imbalance between labor and employers. Most workers can’t do this and the lack of unions doesn’t help with this. I think right wing libertarians should focus more on promoting unionization. Unionization will help the lack of power balance and doesn’t involve government.
I am a capitalist through and through (I’m a landlord socialist especially hate me). Yes cars, phones, movies, laptops, dildos etc etc should be made by private entities. Why should the government make these? Look how that turned out for the USSR. BUT when it comes to health insurance, I don’t understand why this can’t be mostly government run. Insurance even private is a pool fund regardless of who is running it and that’s always brought up that the government will make it a pool fund which is how all insurance works. I think clinic and hospitals should be private because guess what, they are doing the work/service. Insurance is a middle man and it’s annoying as shit having those on the right scream socialism when you think 98% of products and services should be privately owned. Health insurance is also a bad example of a free market good and exchange. A free exchange is when the buyer knows what they are getting and is able to shop around and is generally knowledgeable about the product or service. Obviously in a medical emergency you aren’t shopping around for what your insurance covers at what hospital regarding your heart attack.
I’ve yet to see any good right wing response to these critiques wether they are libertarian and especially authoritarian.
