The 2nd amendment is completely failing at protecting Americans from tyranny.
We sometimes hear advocates of the second amendment claim that it is necessary to protect the rights of citizens from tyrannical government.
One of the definitions or tyranny includes the condition that a tyrannical system involves an arbitrary use of state power and control.
Lets look at two laws written into our constituton and use our common sense to determine if our laws are being adjuicated in an arbitrary fashion…
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated
Any reasonable person following our nation’s political process over the past ~ 70 years knows that these laws are often completely ignored in an arbitrary fashion.
With that in mind what is the point of having a second amendment if most of us just sit idly by as the foundation of our legal system is slowly rendered moot?
