Are monopolies a special case where the government needs to intervene because a monopoly existing prevents competition thus removing free market from that industry. Luxotica for example owns the glasses industry. They make glasses for $20-30 and sell for hundreds. Optometrists, insurance companies, factories, stores and anything else is likely owned by them and anyone not under their management is forced to obey their demands or face bankruptcy before they’re bought out by luxotica. It’s a ruthless monopoly that prevents any competition from existing. Is this when governments should intervene or do we just let them screw us until people put a stop to it themselves.
