There are 40 house seats, 16 senate seats, and 6 states worth about 80 electoral points, that non major party aligned people all have the explicit ability to swing to either major party. This is important.
If you , even in a handful of these districts, decided to coordinate, you would have a ridiculous amount of political power.
New York house district 22 was won by less than 90 votes out of 300k citizens in 2020. You could leverage that. Even with the historical margin of 5000-10000 (which has been ever shrinking), non two party supporters could have leveraged that.
Laws take too much time to pass and would require a lot of trust on your part to hope that you don’t get screwed by major party leaders.
But money is very quickly transact-able during election cycles.
There are legal avenues to sell voting blocks. More importantly than that though, the third party block had the potential to serve as a kingmaker.
Democrats are not willing to cede too much power to Republicans and vice Versa.
But you have the power to take that decision out of their hands.
Trade your voting block for large amounts of money to either or both major parties , until the major parties are forced to expand voting access (E.g. ending first past the post voting, lowering the federal funding requirement from 5% of the vote to a lower amount, ungerrymanering districts) at the risk of basically never seeing electoral power again.
Things are tedious enough that neither side would risk something like this. And the margins are so low that it only takes a relatively small number of you cooperating to pull this off. Major parties can’t just throw more voters at this problem.
Your job as anti two partyers is to siphon money and power from the two party system.
