Is this systematic racism?
A report DEMOGRAPHIC DIFFERENCES IN SENTENCING from the government talks about disparities in sentencing between black and white people. It suggests that black male offenders continued to receive longer sentences than similarly situated White male offenders by 19%. ”Similarly situated” means that background and history was accounted for between two races. I’ll admit that I had a hard time reading this report but it’s not hard to conclude that this would be an example of systematic racism based on key findings. Am I reading this correctly? I’ve tried to see if any mainstream conservatives have commented on this, but it’s been mostly silent.
Edit: Is this just racism or systematic? I recently seen systematic racism as explained as implicit vs explicit. Explicit are laws like Jim Crow/slavery. Implicit is an example as above article where there are no laws but racist people in a broken system. Did the definition changed?
