Wrote a rough draft that outlines the creation of a third political party. Any feedback/discussion is greatly appreciated

Something that my mind always gets fixated on, whether driving around or just day dreaming, is that I know the solution to change American politics into the system we want. I’ve known this for quite a while and the wild thing is, you all know it too. From talking to other people I come across in my life, I’ve realized that a lot of people are operating on a very similar wave length as mine. Also like me, they realize that this ideology has become almost impossible to bring to reality with the current state of American politics and that it is best (and easier) to just go along with the shitty system that has been presented to us. Basically, buy in or ignore all together. I’ve chose the later but really, both are on a more similar plane than we realize. The actuality’s that we all know differ so far from what is presented to us, but at the same time we see how powerless we’ve become and see no other option than to succumb. I don’t blame myself and you shouldn’t blame yourselves either because the reality is, we are getting fucked. Sideways, up ways, down ways, whatever. We are clearly not in control of “our system” any longer.

I’m a person that has made the conscience decision to avoid politics in my life as much as possible. Opt out of the game I guess you could say. Not trying saying this is necessarily the correct decision, I’m just saying it’s the one Ive happened to make in my life. I’ve done my best to remain judgement free on other peoples political views and just treat everyone on a individual basis because… well that’s what matters. I’ve found coming to conclusions on a group basis just ends up inaccurate most of the time.

The nice part about my choice to watch politics from the sidelines is being able to get a neutral understanding of what people’s thought processes are and where their comments are coming from. Many times when I speak up on an issue being discussed, people on the left tell me I must be on the right wing. Other times when I speak up, people on the right tell me that I must be a left wing.

When I asked myself why a person with relatively neutral views was being pushed somehow into BOTH parties, I realized that I had stumbled across the true problem. We are being branded and forced to be either “this” or “that”. No other choice. No In between. You will think the way you’ve been told and that’s that.

What’s tough for me about all of this is that I see upsides and downsides to both current political parties. It leaves me wondering where is the compromise for all of the people that ride somewhere in the middle. The ones like me and the people like you.

If you want to “keep your money” you vote republican.

If you want to “invest in infrastructure” you vote Democrat.

I’m not too well rehearsed in politics but I’d say that those two generalizations sum it up pretty accurately. They both look good on paper and , to an extent, both of those brands of thinking seem reasonable to me. The problem, however, comes with how accurately these two parties are able to accurately represent their sides.

In the current state of things, it is casually accepted that politics are known liars. at the end of the day both parties get us to almost the exact same destination. I would say that regardless of who you vote for, the outcome ends up varying such a little amount that at the end of the day, all the arguing, bickering, aggression and stress that we all put towards one another, ends up being for pointless at the end of the day.

While the few powerful people are carrying out their own selfish plans and priorities, we are stuck going back and forth about that things that are not on their radar whatsoever.

We are continually turned against each other when in reality we need one another.

I am a carpenter that hangs drywall for living. When someone needs a wall built and they call me, I normally know more about the work being done and I am generally able to tell them what we should do. When I go and get my haircut, the stylist knows more about cutting hair so I tell them to do what they think is best. I have been given a specific set of skills (yep that’s correct, I’m Liam Nesson) in my life. I was gifted some specific skills, but definitely not every skill. If my hair stylist randomly decided to hang some drywall with no experience in doing so, guess what? It would probably be done incorrectly or take a lot more time than it needed to. If I decided to cut my own hair one day, guess what? It would probably end up looking like shit. So many people currently can’t stand the people on the other side because they are not the same, when in reality the people we are separating ourselves from are the ones we need. It truly does take a village to raise a child.

We have all been given three things in life. Things we are good at. Things we are not so good at. And individuality. we all have something different to offer this world and we all are not perfect.

It really does break my heart to look from the outside and see that the people put in charge of the country are not only allowing, but encouraging this divisiveness.

You’re as aware as is I am of this: Politics do not give a fuck about us.

If I was to attempt to juxtapose myself from a drywall hanger to a politician I would say that they are executing their agendas quite well. If I had immense money and power and wanted to maintain that by all means possible, i would have to separate myself financially and intellectually as much as possible. I would keep Education funding as low as possible because producing smart people will lead to realization that I’m fucking them over. I would create rules that allow myself to sidestep taxation that even the poorest of people still have to pay. And most of all, I would put the people I control at each other throats because if they are distracted with each other, I can continue on with what works best for me.

Not the way of thinking that I find appropriate considering the job requirement of: represent the American people.

I believe in self responsibility and building our individual lives up to their fullest extent. Which is why I have such a problem with that way of thinking being presented to me and then kept out of reach by people that knew it was never obtainable for someone like me.

Everyday decisions are being made for us that 99% of us don’t want or agree with.

Example: do you think that a Congressman’s salary should be 200k when the average Americans income is 30k? If an AVERAGE American households net worth is 100k and the average congressman’s net worth is 1mil, I feel like it’s safe to say that these people can’t relate and probably should not be representing the average American when they have 10x the value.

Listen, I’m not trying to say that there is a problem with having wealth. I don’t even have a problem with a person have a lot of wealth. I’m just saying that the line needs to be drawn at politics. If you go and start a business that does great and you make a lot of money that is great. You earned that, you worked for that, you keep that.

But if a person wants to have a Job in politics where they are supposed to be doing what’s best for the people of this country, then they should be be put in a position that is relatable for the people they are making decisions for.

If this issue was presented to the American public: should congress get a raise from 200k to 220k? and we all had to vote on it immediately, how would you vote? 99% of us would go into the booth and vote “no” only because “fuck no” wasn’t an option.

Now, how would congress vote on this issue. 100% would vote “yes” only because “fuck yes” wasn’t an option.

This example was chosen because it just happened to be one I thought of but I’m sure you can think of some issues that would produce a similar outcome.

It’s scary that we as people have completely lost power of our government. We are not in control anymore and we should change that because it is only getting worse. Why is what 99% of us want not what we are getting?

A third political party is the only way to fix the problem. A party that represents us. Compromise is tough but when the reality is that our current political representatives are living up to 10% of what they claim to stand for, a compromise becomes a much better deal.

The compromise that I’m referring to is taking what is good about both political parties, stripping the bad, and realizing that we can have most of what we want rather than the almost none that we have in the current situation.

I honestly feel like the vast majority of people that read this will relate to what I’ve said in this text and feel the same way.

I feel like there’s so many of us that the only logical reason this text isn’t reality is that there is a force that is preventing it.

If we join together this all can and should become a reality. We as the majority should be represented accurately because, though it’s been forgotten, this is OUR country. We need to get it back before it’s too late.

If you’re reading this and am wondering what my intentions are and where I’m coming from all of this, I would like to clarify.

I believe that we should create a third political party

This party should be created by the people it’s represents, us

This is not a self fulfilling attempt for me to become president

My roll in all of this is to get the ball rolling on an idea that I feel most Americans agree with.

I do not care at all about the self gain. I am only concerned with pushing a movement in belief that it is truly best for us.

We will vote on what we want. We as a group will make our decisions. We will chose what we want to stand for. We will choose our name. We will choose our president

I know that sounds like the current political model but what I just described is what our government SHOULD BE which is far from what it actually is.

I’m looking for any and all feedback on this possible. Only the very base of this has been devolved and I want us to decide what direction it takes.

The first topics I would like to put up for discussion are:

What are your general thoughts on the creation of a third party?

What would we call this party? I’ve thought about this a little bit without much luck. All I’ve come up with so far is: “The Sentient Party”

I feel like the current voting method is outdated and some sort of more immediate voting method could be created. Maybe some sort of voting device that allowed for more voting flexibility. Say if today we decided that we had an issue that we wanted voted on within a week, how could we make that possible. Even if we the vote wasn’t what made major party decisions for us and was just used to get a general pulse of the issue

Lastly I would like to put my earlier hypothetical example to a vote: do you want congress to get a raise at this point and time? Yes or no

We really can take back this country and I feel like this could be a good jumping off point. This whole thing is not mine it is ours. I’m merely presenting it.
