Full Drug Legalization vs. the Education System and Culture
Many libertarians are all for full drug legalization. They justify this by pointing towards the evidence of Portugal and their programs and how they have changed drug use in Europe. However, drug use here only seems to cause homelessness and long term problems, even with the offer of rehabilitation centers. So the question(s) for this discussion are as follows: does the use of the people have to do with the different cultures behind drugs? Does the education system currently in place make it known how harmful these drugs are and where they can seek help? And finally, does the size of governance matter: being that Portugal is much, much smaller than the continental United States? I am curious to know everyone’s views and reasoning behind this.
