For those confused by some popular buzz words being tossed around, allow me to translate
We all know a part of politics is bluster and with the agitator in chief on his way out, some might seem to be looking for a new way to fire up the base using popular buzz words and phrases that don’t exactly fit their traditional definition. So let me go ahead and translate whats said vs whats really meant:
“Freedom of speech” — “Everyone everywhere must listen to my opinion even when it violates their own rights or safety. Businesses especially should be forced by the government to allow me a platform to speak my opinion in as loud and obnoxious a capacity as I please no matter what.”
“Censorship” — “I violated a non-governmental, private business’ rules and they won’t let me use their business anymore.”
“Cancel Culture” — “Mommy and daddy never gave me consequences for my actions and you shouldn’t either.”
“Woke mob” — “There are more decent people than anticipated who don’t like that repugnant thing I did.”
“Big Tech” — “Dozens of different companies that operate independently but its scarier to make them all seem like one conglomerate that poses a threat to liars, racists and assholes.”
“1984” — “I barely remember reading it in middle school and will now use it to whine about accountability.”
“Monopoly” — “a popular business that I want to patronize who has banned me. There are other similar businesses I could use but I don’t want to because it would get me less attention so instead I’ll lobby the government to force them to accept me like that time in school Timmy didn’t invite me to his birthday party because I bullied him for eight years but then it turned out all the kids were going so I made my mommy threaten to sue his parents to let me go.”
“The Holocaust” — “What it feels like when I’m told I can’t threaten to kill Jews on social media.”
“Violation of my rights” — “I should be allowed to do whatever the fuck i want no matter how it impacts anyone else in society.”
