Advice on running for office in the future
Good morning, everyone.
I’ve recently completed my five years in the Marine Corps and I’m now looking to my future endeavors in politics. My uncle recommended that I look into running for city council, or something that puts me in something of that realm. I’m currently residing in San Bernardino County and will be here for the foreseeable future.
I’ve been looking online and have been unsuccessful in finding out what I could or should do. My short term plan is to do something with local city law and government because I want to help make a change for the better.
Can anyone here recommend some information about what I would need to do in order to get my foot in the door?
Thanks for the help!
On a side note, I have a BA in film. In the Marines, I spent 3.5 years doing public affairs work as a photojournalist, videographer, and did multiple high-level event coordination. The last 1.5 years I was the administration executive for the base general, which had me work every article of correspondence the leaders of the base would review and sign off on, as well as do some PR work and coordination with every unit on the base from time to time.
Hope that helps!
